Chinese Foreign Minister Ends Latin America Tour

Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan wound up his Latin American tour Tuesday after a three-day official visit to Chile.

Chile is the last stop of Tang's Latin American tour, which has taken him to Cuba, Mexico and Brazil. The Chinese minister described his first official visit to Latin America as very happy, satisfactory and successful.

Through the visit, China and Latin America enhanced dialogue, strengthened friendship and widened consensus, said Tang.

On Monday, the Chinese minister held talks with Chilean President Ricardo Lagos, and his Chilean counterpart, Soledada Alvera, to exchange views on issues of common interest.

During his stay in Chile, Tang also delivered a speech on China's reform and opening-up policy and friendly Sino-Latin American cooperation at the Santiago-based Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean.
