Chinese Foreign Trade Minister Meets with WTO ChiefChinese Foreign Trade Minister Shi Guangsheng held talks Tuesday in Geneva with WTO Director-General Mike Moore on China's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO).During their meeting held at WTO headquarters, Shi said that China has reached agreements with 36 of the 37 WTO members which have showed interest in holding bilateral market-access negotiations. Now China's accession talks have come into the final stage of preparing necessary legal documents for China's accession. However, Shi said, there is much to be done during the multilateral talks. He hoped that Moore would play his part as the WTO chief in accelerating the process in order to facilitate China's early accession, which will benefit China, WTO members and the WTO itself. Moore agreed that China's WTO membership would be beneficial to all. He called on all parties concerned to do their best to finish the remaining work for China's eventual accession at an early date. Those also present at the meeting from the Chinese side are Chief Trade Negotiator Long Yongtu and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva and Other International Organizations in Switzerland Ambassador Qiao Zonghuai.
