Vice-premier Calls for Improved Occupational Ethics

Vice-premier Wu Bang guo Tuesday called for increased efforts to improve occupational ethics among millions of employees across the country.

Wu said building work ethics is a major part of efforts to improve socialist material civilization and "spiritual civilization" in the present economic reform period.

The vice-premier added that improved work ethics will further improve the overall quality of employees.

He made the remarks at a national meeting held Tuesday honoring 10 model employees and 10 model work units.

Also honored at the meeting were 47 outstanding employees and 61 work units selected from different trades across the country.

The meeting was organized by the Department of Publicity under the CPC Central Committee in cooperation with the Office for Cultural and Ideological Progress Under the CPC Central Committee, the State Economic and Trade Commission, All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) and other departments.

Among those officials attending the meeting were Wei Jianxing, member of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of Communist Party of China (CPC), and Ding Guangen, head of the Department of Publicity under the CPC Central Committee.
