During the Ninth Planning Period (1996-2000), exports of electromechanical products kept growing with a strong momentum, with an annual increase rate of 18 percent, due to technological innovations. In the past five years, exports of the products accounted for 40 percent over the country's total foreign trade volume, said Fan Shande, deputy director general of the Electromechanical Products Imports and Exports Department of the ministry. Fan said manufacturers have paid attention to technological innovations. As a result, the varieties and functions of electromechanical products have improved remarkably, which gave a strong boost to exports. Meanwhile, the products are exported to more countries and regions, he said. |
