Chinese FM Spokesman on Singaporean Minister's Visit to Taiwan

China demanded that Singapore abide by its promise and stick to the one-China policy and not do anything that harms bilateral relations.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Sun Yuxi made the remarks Tuesday at a press conference in response to Singaporean senior minister in prime minister's office Lee Kuan Yew's visit to Taiwan.

The Chinese government has already expressed its regret and displeasure over the visit, Sun said.

"We have consistently opposed any form of official contacts with Taiwan by countries that have diplomatic relations with China," said Sun.

The Taiwan issue is an internal affair of China, he stressed.
