Barak-Arafat Summit Ends with Peace Pledges

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat have ended their latest round of peace talks.

It was their first meeting since the July Camp David summit, and they are pledging to continue peace efforts.

During the meeting, the United States President Bill Clinton, who is an ardent sponsor of the peace process, made telephone calls to both leaders.

According to Barak's media advisors, the two leaders told Clinton they're determined to make every effort and use every opportunity to reach a final peace deal.

The pair told Clinton they have instructed their negotiation teams to do their utmost to bridge the gaps between them and spare neither effort nor time in finding ways to progress.
