China Int'l Friendship Cities Conference Opens

The 2000 China International Friendship Cities Conference opened in Beijing Tuesday morning. Chinese Vice-President Hu Jintao attended the opening ceremony of the three-day conference, which aims to focus on exploring new ways and areas of cooperation between sister cities in the 21st century.

To date, 30 Chinese provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities and nearly 300 cities have forged 950 sister-city links with their counterparts in more than 100 countries.
