National Day to Be Solemnly Celebrated in Macao SAR

The government of Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China will hold a series of activities to solemnly celebrate the country's National Day, which falls on October 1.

The celebrations will be started with a grand national flag raising ceremony at 8:00 a.m., which will be attended by Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau Wah and all principal officials of the Macao SAR, central government officials stationed in Macao, and local celebrities.

Organized by the Sports Development Board of the Macao SAR government, a long-distance running with extensive participation of Macao residents will be launched at 8:15 a.m. to mark the red-letter day.

At four o'clock in the afternoon, the SAR government will give a magnificent reception at the Macao Landmark Conference Exhibition Center. It is estimated that as many as 1,400 officials and guests will be present on the occasion.

At night, fireworks will be displayed to add more festive aura in celebrating the National Day, which is the first since Macao returned to the motherland in December last year.
