China Launches All-English Channel TodayChina's national TV broadcaster, CCTV, is expected to launch an all-English channel CCTV-9 today, offering a 24-hour service.The program line-up will feature news reports every hour and on the hour, such as shows like CCTV News, World-wide Watch, News Asia and Headline News, a spokesman for China Central Television said here today. Other special news programs include Financial Report and Culture Express. For sports fans, the latest news on athletes and sporting events will be covered in "Sport Scene", said the spokesman. The new channel will be devoted mainly to reporting issues and events around China, and it can also be viewed simultaneously on the Internet at www.CCTV.com. With a growing number of businessmen, students and professionals coming to China from across the world, CCTV expects its domestic audience to increase dramatically over the next five years, said the spokesman.
