PLA Chief of General Staff Meets Maldivian Guests

Fu Quanyou, chief of General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met Monday with Abdul Sattar Anbare, minister of State for Defense and National Security of Maldives, and his party.

Fu, also a member of the Central Military Commission, said that China and Maldives have enjoyed friendly relations of cooperation since the two countries forged diplomatic ties 27 years ago.

The visit of Anbare is the first contact between the armed forces of the two countries, and the tour initiates the friendly cooperation between them, he said.

Fu expressed the hope the two countries' armed forces will expand contacts and promote mutual understanding.

Fu expressed his gratitude for Maldives' support of the "One-China" policy.

Anbare praised China's economic achievements and said that he will do his best to promote friendly relations between the armed forces of the two countries.
