Private Enterprises of Guangdong Make Great Strides Toward World Market
In the past two years, the relevant departments of China and the Guangdong provincial government have adopted various policies and measures to support local private enterprises in directly participating in international competition and cooperation, constructing a fairly good environment for these firms to carry out foreign economic and trade business which has thus seen a rapid growth.
According to statistics from the customs department, the export of Guangdong's private enterprises saw a seven-fold rise form January to June over last year's same period. In Guangdong, 559 private enterprises have gained the right to handle import and export, and the total export and import amounts of such enterprises in the province reached US$ 3.13 billion in 1999.
