CCB Offers Loans for Power Projects in Sichuan

The Sichuan branch of the China Construction Bank (CCB) will provide 20 billion yuan in loans to promote power development in southwest China's Sichuan Province.

According to an agreement signed recently between the bank and the Sichuan Provincial Power Company, the loan will be used to build two power stations and improve the existing power grid in both the urban and rural areas of Sichuan.

This is the largest loan the bank has ever offered to the industrial sector of the province, said a local banker.

Sichuan experienced the fastest development of hydro-electric power among all provinces in China. The province has initiated a bid invitation for the construction of a 246-kilometer-long power transmission line. It also expects to transmit electricity to provinces in east China by 2002.
