Chinese Cultural Show Warmly Received in Nepal

A Chinese Cultural and Acrobatic Show was put on here Sunday and received warm cheering from about 1000 Nepali audience.

Some 30 Chinese artists from China's northeastern province of Heilongjiang gave a fascinating performance, featuring Chinese traditional songs, dances and musical instruments playing and acrobatics.

Speaking on the occasion, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zeng Xuyong said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Nepal in 1955, the traditional friendship between the two countries has developed consistently, stably and soundly on the basis of Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence.

"The performances of this troupe will help to further promote the mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples," he said.

Present to watch the show were Nepali governmental officials, Chinese and foreign diplomats stationed in Kathmandu and Nepali people from all walks of life.

The Chinese troupe arrived here Tuesday at the invitation of the Nepali Cultural Ministry for a 10-day show tour to enhance the cultural exchanges between Nepal and China on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The troupe had put on one show each in Nepal's scenic city Pokhara and southern industrial city Birgunj on Wednesday and Thursday.

After completing two more performances in Kathmandu, the troupe will leave for Bangladesh on September 28.
