China Assured of Another Gold Medal in Badminton

China is poised to add more gold to their impressive badminton tally on Saturday.

China already has two gold and a bronze medals in the bag and is assured of the gold and silver in the women's doubles Saturday, and they could add the singles gold to that tally if Ji Xinpeng continues to upset the formbook when he plays Hendrawan of Indonesia in the men's final.

The pair have met only twice before in the final of the Japan Open in April and during the Thomas Cup men's world team championship in Kuala Lumpur in May and have one win each.

China's strength in depth in the women's doubles has been further endorsed after Friday's semi-finals, in which Ge Fei and Gu Jun, the defending Olympic champions and top seeds, cruised into Saturday's final after beat compatriots Gao Ling and Qin Yiyuan.

Their opponents in the final are Huang Nanyan and Yang Wei, the number two seeds who beat Chung Jae Hee and Ra Kyung-Min of South Korea.
