Relations Between CPC and FSP to Be Promoted

Henri Nallet, national secretary in charge of international affairs of the French Socialist Party (FSP), said Thursday that the relationship between the FSP and the Communist Party of China (CPC) will be promoted in the new century.

In an interview with Xinhua, Nallet said both the FSP and the CPC are ruling parties and both shoulder the responsibility of developing their domestic economy.

He said Sino-French relations have developed smoothly. French Prime Minister Lionel Jospin visited China in 1998, and in the following year Chinese President Jiang Zemin toured France, he said, adding that the frequent exchange of visits improve the Sino-French comprehensive partnership and mutual trust and understanding.

Nallet said China has played more and more of an important role in international affairs, and the FSP and the CPC have a bright future for cooperation, adding that his visit is to promote the existing friendly cooperation between the two parties.

He also suggested that the exchange of visits among party leaders and local officials should increase, and that experts from the two countries should exchange views on party theories.

Nallet is here for a 7-day visit at the invitation of the CPC.
