Taiwan Businessmen Invited to Invest in High-Tech in JiangsuA senior government official has invited more Taiwanese businessmen to invest in high technology in east China's Jiangsu Province."We will provide a better environment for Taiwanese-funded high-tech firms," said Wang Min, Vice-Governor of the province. He promised that the government will offer better services for Taiwan investors. Speaking at a Cross-Straits High-Tech Seminar in the provincial capital of Nanjing Wednesday, Wang said that co-operation between Jiangsu and Taiwan has been well carried out in recent years and is in the interests of both sides. By the end of June, the province had approved more than 8,500 Taiwanese-funded firms using eight billion U.S. dollars. Pledged investments by businessmen from the island have surpassed 15 billion U.S. dollars. In the first half of this year, Taiwanese businessmen showed interests in electronic information. The number of projects in the field approved by Jiangsu were 33 percent more than last year's, official statistics indicated. More than 500 scientists, experts and businessmen attended the seminar.
