Women's Badminton Doubles Produce A Chinese-Affair Final
World number two shuttlers Huang Nanyan/Yang Wei saw off South Korean pair Chung Jae Hee/Ra Kyung-Min 15-6, 15-11 in the women's doubles badminton semifinals of the Sydney Olympics here on Friday, assuring a Chinese affair for tomorrow's final.
In an early semi this afternoon, China's ace double Ge Fei/Gu Jun dismissed teammate Gao Ling/Qin Yiyuan 15-7, 15-12.
"We have a better attitude than our opponents," said Yang, "We lost two out of the past three encounters and entered the match as underdogs. The South Koreans wanted the victory badly and that put them under great pressure."
Tomorrow's final against their defending Olympic champion teammates would make no difference to their attitude, Yang said.
"They (Ge/Gu)'re opponents as well as teammates. We have great confidence to win the gold." said Yang.
China assured itself of the women's badmiton doubles on Friday when Ge Fei/Gu Jun and Huang Nanyan/Yang Wei both won and reached Saturday's final in Sydney at the 27th Olympic Games.
