China's Li Xuemei Qualifies for Second Round of Women's 100m

Asia's fastest woman Li Xuemei clocked 11.10 seconds to advance into the second round of the women's 100 meters at the 27th Olympic Games Friday in Sydney.

Li, who holds the Asian record of 10.79 seconds, finished second in the eighth of the 11 heats. The top three in each heat and the other seven fastest have qualified for the second round which will be held tonight.

But Li, who has been plagued with hamstring and knee injuries in the past two years, was not satisfied with her performance.

"The result isn't so good," she said. "But we just take the 100m as a warm-up event for the women's 4X100m. This is not important.
