Shanghai International Family Car Expo. Goes with Auction
The Shanghai International Family Car Exposition opened here today, crowded with slick car models including BMW, Mercedes Benz, Toyota and famous brands from the United States, Sweden, Germany, Japan and Britain to the Republic of Korea.
It is not only China's first automobile exposition specializing in family cars, but also the first of its kind to allow auction houses to sell foreign brand cars on-the-spot.
People can join the auction at the exposition or at a few other designated sites, because Shanghai International Commodity Auction Co. Ltd., a sponsor of the exposition, will use advanced satellites and telecommunication equipment to transmit the auction at the main exposition hall to three branch auction houses in Beijing, Guangzhou and Wenzhou, respectively.
Car buyers can consummate all the formalities from getting a loan to applying for license plates for their new purchase at the four-day family car exposition opened here today.
The total value of 32 cars put on the board are about 30 million yuan (3.6 million US dollars), which represent the highest bidding price in China.
Also being auctioned are over 1,700 car license plates.
Major automobile producers in China, such as Shanghai Volkswagen, No.1 Automobile Plant and Shanghai General Motors brought their new products to the exposition, which covers some 30,000 square meters of floor space.
Three other automobile exhibitions are simultaneously being held in Shanghai, which are the China International Business Automobile Exhibition, Special Automobile and Auto Parts and Components Exhibition, and Shanghai International Auto Beauty, Care, Maintenance and Test Equipment Exposition.
