Japanese Prime Minister Meets Macao Chief Executive

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori said on Wednesday that he hoped Macao would maintain a free and open system under China's "one country, two systems" policy.

During a meeting with visiting Macao Chief Executive Edmund Ho, Mori said Macao's stability and economic development are vital to Japan.

When describing Japan as one of the most important countries for Macao's economic development, Ho said Macao could promote cooperation with Japan in the field of information technology.

In a meeting with Japanese Foreign Minister Yohei Kono earlier in the day, Ho expressed his hope for stronger ties between Japan and Macao.

Ho, who arrived on Monday for a five-day visit, will attend various activities intended to promote tourism in Macao.
