China Announces Directory for Industries, Products and Technologies
China Thursday announced a revised directory for industries, products and technologies that the State encourages to focus on.
The directory lists 28 major areas of 526 products, technologies and services, including agriculture, forestry, water conservancy, energy, transportation, information, iron and steel, petrochemicals, building materials, medicine, machinery and environmental protection.
The directory, issued jointly by the State Development Planning Commission (SDPC) and the State Economic and Trade Commission (SETC), declares imported equipment for domestically-funded projects to be exempted from tariffs and import-related taxation.
The SDPC issued the trial directory in 1997. Since then, it has organized the revision of another trial directory on imported commodities that can be exempted from tariffs for domestically-invested projects. The revised directory will be issued by the Ministry of Finance shortly.
