An Agricultural High-tech Model Park to Be Erected in Zhejiang
A high-tech agricultural park for demonstration, known as the "Agricultural Silicon Valley" in south China, was set in motion September 20 at Xiaoshan City, Zhejiang province. The park is initiated by the Government of Zhejiang Province with the private Chuanhua Group to play the principal part in it.
The initial phase of the park consists of several sections including the demonstrative area for seeds and seedlings, agroecological leisure-making and sightseeing, area for agricultural science and education, and management and service with a square in the center as well. Flowers and saplings, fruit and vegetables will be planted here. New variety of aquatic products, development of gene engineering medicines, seed and seedling packing, and promotion of trans-genetic products and other agricultural technologies will be conducted and applied in the park.
It is as reported that technology for prolonged cultivation of fruit and vegetables in greenhouses, mass production of garden-crops and seedling cultivation in trays and containers have been introduced into the park. Israel and Netherlands have expressed their interests in the investment in and the construction of, the park and so has the world-renowned insurance company from Germany.
