US Firms in China Welcome Trade Bill

US businesses counting on the huge Chinese market can take a breath of relief since the US Senate has voted for a milestone passage of the China Permanent Normal Trade Relations (PNTR) bill, Chinadaily reported Thursday.

"The passage has brought optimism to American companies operating in China," said Tim Stratford, chairman of American Chamber of Commerce in China.

Stratford noted, with the passing of the bill, the US Congress has opened the way for American farmers, workers and businesses to benefit from many changes the country will be making to bring its business practices and legal system up to international standards."

"The Senate's PNTR approval opens the door to a brighter future for both nations," said Philcondit, chairman and chief executive officer of Boeing, the world largest aircraft manufacturer.

"The PNTR bill will mean full-blown trade relation for businesses on both sides, and we are looking forward to more cooperation with the Chinese Government and businesses," said Meiwei Cheng, chairman and CEO of Ford Motor (China).
