China to Focus on Curbing Narcotics InflowChina will strengthen efforts to curb the inflow of narcotics across the border, said Jia Chunwang, minister of public security, Wednesday in Kunming."Anti-narcotics work in southwest China, which borders the notorious Golden Triangle area, is of great importance to the country's overall anti-narcotics situation," said the minister at an ongoing anti-narcotics conference, which opened yesterday in Kunming, capital city of southwest China's Yunnan Province. Currently, most of the narcotics consumed and traded in China come from the Golden Triangle Area. The minister called on police departments at all levels to further perfect narcotics inspection network and to establish a mechanism which is efficient in the long run. He ordered the border defense forces in southwest China to join with their counterparts in railway, communication, and aviation sectors, to effectively crack down on the rampant narcotics trade. |
