Wang Yifu Not to Retire

Chinese shooter Wang Yifu lost in the last second at Atlanta Olympics four years ago. In Sydney Olympics, as a time-honored athlete in his forties, his performance is not bad. For Chinese people are disappointed with losing two golds in two men's shooting categories, which are expected to win, many journalists put the question whether Wang will retire after Sydney Olympics.

Sun Shengwei, chief coach of the Chinese Shooting team, told that Wang has not yet considered the problem about his retirement and that he is to attend the National Games coming soon. When being asked whether Wang would be at the next Olympics, Sun said, "that is a problem to be answered four years later". To the same question, Zhang Qiuping, Wang's wife, said Wang hasn't yet made the decision by himself whether to retire.

Feng Jianzhong, director of the Chinese shooting games center, said that although Wang is forty, there is no obvious limitation on athletes' age in shooting games and some shooting athletes had even attended past Olympics when they were in their fifties and even sixties. Wang's records winning a silver medal the first day and the sixth place next show that he is still in good form.
