WAP, Stuck in A Fix, Likely to Delay ChargingThe expected charging day, September 20, is likely to be postponed due to the fact that the criteria of charging of Internet connection through WAP-enabled mobile phones have not been authorized yet, said officials from China Mobile over the weekend.According to an online survey, over 80 per cent of the investigators can only afford a monthly charging fee of 200 yuan (US$24.15) or less, 63.5 per cent of the investigators show acceptance of 100 yuan (US$12.08) or less for the monthly Internet accession fees. Business insiders say that the criteria for the monthly Internet accession fees through WAP-enabled mobile phones will be undoubtedly lower than that through ordinary PCs. And the charge will also be lower than the ordinary voice services. It is likely to be a risky step to charge fees currently owing to the disadvantages WAP-enabled mobile phones have, such as narrow band connection, low connection speed, and insufficient webpages.
