Two MD-90 Jets Join China's Airliner FleetTwo MD-90 airplanes manufactured in China, in cooperation with Boeing of the United States, were delivered Tuesday to the North China Airline Co.The localization of parts of the two jetliners made by the China No.1 Aviation Industry Group has reached 70 percent. The planes will fly on principal air routes from Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province, to Guangzhou, Xiamen, Shenzhen and Shanghai cities in the southeast as well as an international route to Japan. Since joint production started between the State-run company and the former McDonnell Douglas Co. in 1995, 35 MD-80 series have been built. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States has granted certificates of air-worthiness to the two MD-90 planes. The North China Airline Co. is the largest buyer of MD planes in China with a fleet of over 30 MD jets. |
