Chinese Riot Police Preparing for National Contest

Patrol and riot police units across the country are now busy preparing for a national contest to be held in the capital next month.

The Municipal Police Bureau of Tianjin, 120 km southeast of Beijing, has purchased special equipment and vehicles for the contest.

Meanwhile, in Henan and Shanxi provinces, local riot police forces are using it as a good opportunity to give police officers a month of training on their basic professional skills.

In eastern Jiangsu Province, over 5,000 local police officers have been trained for one month and 110 of them have been selected to receive special training for the forthcoming competition.

Police units in Zhejiang Province, also in the east, have undertaken the preparations in a military style.
