FM Spokesman on US Senate Passage of China PNTR Bill

The normalization of Permanent Normal Trade Relations (PNTR) with China is conducive to creating a long-term and stable environment for Sino-US economic and trade cooperation, Foreign Ministry spokesman Sun Yuxi said Wednesday morning in Beijing.

Sun made the remarks in response to the passing of China's Permanent Normal Trade Relations (PNTR) bill by the US Senate.

"This is in the fundamental interests of the people of the two countries, and is also of significance to the smooth development of Sino-US relations," he said.

Sun said that the US Senate supported by voting normalization of the Permanent Normal Trade Relations (PNTR) with China on September 20 (Tuesday afternoon US Eastern time), which accords with the principle of non-discrimination set by the World Trade Organization.

People of insight in the US have for many years made active and unremitting efforts to achieve such an objective at an early date, he said, adding that "We appreciate their efforts."
