Tanzanian Diplomat Hails Africa-China Cooperation TiesTanzania's top diplomat in Cairo on Tuesday hailed a Chinese-proposed forum as an important means for the strengthening of cooperation with African countries.The upcoming meeting of the Chinese-African Cooperation Forum in Beijing will be "one of the most important event in the process of economic cooperation" between the two sides, Tanzanian Ambassador Muhammed Mzale told Xinhua. China has proposed African ministers of foreign affairs and trade meet on October 10-12 in its capital with their Chinese counterparts to discuss prospects and ways of intensifying cooperation in the new era. Mzale expressed his country's readiness to take part in the meeting. "We appreciate very much the Chinese initiative to hold such a forum for us to seek new means of strengthening cooperation," he said prior to the opening here of the third session of African trade ministers to discuss inter-African trade, economic integration of the continent and globalization of the world economy. "China is a partner which can offer, and is still offering" in the field of trade with Africa, Mzale stressed, speaking highly of China's long-standing close cooperation and good trade relations with African countries, Tanzania in particular. While blaming developed countries for failing to open up markets, Mzale called on African countries to expand trade among themselves so as to "acquire a better position in trade" with non-African states. In line with this thinking, Tanzania keeps cooperation with other African countries by joining regional groups and signing bilateral trade agreements, he added. |
