Senior CPC Official Meets Ecuadorian Guest

Jia Qinglin, member of the Political Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) Central Committee, met Tuesday with Rodrigo Borja Cevallos, former president of Ecuador and leader of the Democratic Left Party (DLP).

Jia, who is also the secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, said that the relations between the CPC and DLP and the two countries have been progressing well since the two parties forged ties in the 1980s.

The CPC sticks to the principle of independence, self-determination, full equality, mutual respect, and non-interference in each other's internal affairs in developing relations with political parties in other countries, Jia noted.

Jia believed the relations between the CPC and DLP would grow further.

Borja said that the DLP and the CPC have many in common, which will lay a solid foundation for the further development of the relations between the two sides.

Borja is invited by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.
