Art Work Donated to Project Hope

China Youth Development Foundation (CYDF) announced Monday that it has received more than 1,400 pieces of art, which were created by well-known painters or calligraphers and would be auctioned to help poor students.

More than 1,000 painters and calligraphers, who are from 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, donated some of their work to the CYDF, which oversees the education relief drive, or Project Hope, in rural China, said Wang Rupeng, a senior official with the foundation.

Wang said they will use the money raised from the scheduled auctions to aid 1,000 Hope Schools nationwide.

The art pieces were created by big names such as Shen Peng, Ouyang Zhongshi, Liu Yi, Feng Qiyong, Chen Dazhang, Yao Boqi, Liu Kuang, Xiao Shufang, Han Meilin, Yang Keyang and Liu Chunhua.

About 100 of the most outstanding pieces have been transported to Sydney, Australia, for an exhibition in the place where the Olympic Games are being held.

In 1989, the Communist Youth League of China (CYLC) and the CYDF initiated the non-governmental charity endeavor of Project Hope.
