HK to Host Exhibition on Contemporary Chinese Art

Hong Kong will host an exhibition of contemporary Chinese art from this Friday at the Hong Kong Art Museum.

Titled "Inside Out: New Chinese Art", the first major international exhibition will show how Chinese artists have been spurred to produce so many innovative works.

A Hong Kong official says the exhibition will enable viewers to understand how Chinese artists have responded to the rapid modernization, and changing political, cultural and social realities since the late 1980's.

In addition to this cultural activity, a series of performances, lectures, and panel discussions related to contemporary Chinese art will be organized.

The exhibition debuted at the Asia Society Galleries in New York in 1998 and has since traveled the United States, as well as to Mexico and Australia.

Hong Kong is the exhibition's last stop. It will run for one and a half months.
