Mental Factor Leads to Diabetes: Survey

Chinese medical experts found that abnormal mental conditions might be important factors for the type II of diabetes.

After a nationwide survey on 413 diabetes patients, the experts found out that endocrine disorder, high blood pressure and heart rate, which are considered to result from abnormal mental conditions, would bring about low insulin and glycemia, "Beijing Evening News" reported.

Moreover, Chen Guanmin, professor at Wuhan University who organized the survey, also pointed out that the abnormal mental conditions could aggravate diabetes.

Medical experts formerly regarded that some unhealthy lifestyles, such as lacking physical exercise or excessive eating could lead to diabetes II, while diabetes I is due to genetic factors.

Supported by national scientific funds, Chen has set up the research on the relationship between diabetes II and various nosogenesis.

Ni Zongzan, another expert on diabetes treatment, considers that Chen's find provides credible basis for the prevention and clinical treatment of diabetes.
