Int'l Chemical Industry Fair Opens in Beijing

The fifth International Chemical Industry Fair opened in Beijing Tuesday. Participating in the four-day event are representatives from some 700 domestic enterprises and nearly 50 overseas companies from 18 countries and regions.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Director of the State Administration of Petroleum and Chemical Industries Li Yongwu, described the fair as an important move of China's oil and chemical sectors to push ahead their reform and opening and expand economic and technical cooperation with their foreign counterparts.

On display at the fair are a wide range of products and new technologies,including chemical engineering machinery, instruments, fertilizer, pesticide, organic chemicals, synthetic materials, rubber products and petrochemicals, and membrane and water treatment technologies.

During the fair symposiums and trade talks will be held.
