Top Court Leader on Education of Judges
Xiao Yang, president of China's Supreme People's Court, today urged courts at all levels to give priority to fostering high-quality judges who can meet the needs of the new century and satisfy the Party and the people.
At a national conference on the education and training of judges, Xiao said that education and training are major ways to improve the quality of judges, especially leaders of courts.
He stressed the importance of studying political theories and law. Judges must have a high professional quality, otherwise, it is difficult to ensure judicial justice, he said.
The three-day conference called for strengthening the education and training of judges. All judges and court leaders should receive professional training before taking their jobs as well as in-service training, according to the meeting. A training system for preparatory judges will also be set up.
