Book on History of CPC-Led Military University Published
A workshop was held Monday to mark the recent publishing of a book on the history of the Chinese People's Anti-Japanese Military and Political University.
President Jiang Zemin, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), wrote the title for the book.
Present at the meeting were two CMC vice chairmen, Zhang Wannian and Chi Haotian, a former vice chairman of the CMC, Zhang Zhen, and five current CMC members, including Fu Quanyou, Yu Yongbo, Wang Ke, Cao Gangchuan and Xu Caihou.
"Kangda", a Chinese abbreviation of the university's name, was established by late CPC leader Mao Zedong, General Zhang Wannian said in an address to the meeting.
The school had over 100,000 excellent cadres and helped lay an important foundation for the great victories in the Anti-Japanese War (1937-1945), the Liberation War (1946-49), and the socialist revolution and construction drive, Zhang said.
In his speech, General Chi urged all the servicemen to study and inherit the glorious tradition of the university by further displaying the "Kangda Spirit".
Both Zhang and Chi pledged that the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) will firmly abide by the central leadership with Jiang Zemin at the core.
The book is published by the Publishing House of the Chinese PLA University of National Defense.
