China May Cause for Russia and Romania in Women's Gymnastics

Romania and Russia are the hot favorites for the women's gymnastics team title but they could face a strong challenge from their Chinese opponents in the finals of team event on Tuesday.

The Russians finished the qualification round as leaders, 0.983 points ahead of Romania and 1.497 ahead of China. Svetlana Khorkina is expected to be a leader of the team, as stable as she was in the qualifications.

The Romanians will rely on their traditional stability on all pieces of apparatus, starting the competition on the uneven bars.

Strong challenge for the medals is expected by the Chinese team, who are extraordinary on the beam and bars.

The Ukrainians, who beat Romania at the last European Championships in May, will be the first to compete on the vault.
