Chinese Foreign Minister Ends Visit to Cuba

Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan wound up a three-day official visit to Cuba and left Havana for Mexico City Monday.

On Monday, the Chinese foreign minister held talks with Cuban Vice President Carlos Lage, with whom he coincided to underscore the good level of bilateral historical relations and the possibilities to increase cooperation in different sectors.

Tang also paid tribute to the monument of the national hero of Cuba, Jose Marti in the Revolution Square at the capital, and attended a meeting with the diplomatic corps at the headquarters of the Foreign Department.

During the visit, Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan met with President Castro last Saturday in a friendly and fraternal atmosphere.

He also met with his Cuban counterpart Felipe Perez Roque.

As an outcome of the visit, two economic and academic cooperation agreements were signed.

After Cuba, Tang will proceed to Mexico as a second leg of his Latin American tour, which will also take him to Brazil and Chile.
