Splendid Fireworks Display to Celebrate National Day in HK

A splendid fireworks display will light up the sky of Victoria Harbor in Hong Kong at 8 p.m. on October 1 to celebrate the 51st anniversary of the People's Republic of China.

Announcing details of the fireworks display at a press conference Monday, Agnes Tang, acting assistant director of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) of Hong Kong, said that the LCSD was honored to coordinate the "2000 National Day Fireworks Display".

A total of 38,388 pieces of fireworks will be discharged from three firing points by using five barges. The 23-minute fireworks display will be divided into twelve scenes, opening up in the first scene with bright golden rings, five stars and red happy faces, filling the sky with colorful blessings.

The fireworks reach climax at the last scene with fast and rhythmic display, culminating at the last 20-second's earthshaking finale.

The fireworks will be synchronized with Chinese and Western music on Radio 2 and Radio 4 of Radio Television Hong Kong. Audience can listen to the radio to enjoy the full impact of light and sound spectacular.
