Ten Billion Yuan Invested for Environment Quality in Shenzhen
Shenzhen is going to inject 10 billion-yuan for the 38 projects to better the city's environmental quality within a period of eight years.
The projects will initially be centered on the treatment of rivers, water-head protection, urban sewage disposal, improvement of air quality, noise and solid waste treatment as well as improvement of ecological environment, a total of 38 items with an investment totaling 10 billion- yuan for a bluer sky, more limpid water and a greener land.
By the end of last year, some projects as reported had been brought to completion. They include the sewage severing projects at Dawang village and by the Xili Reservoir, the garbage crematory at Longgang and a project for the control of water and soil erosion within an area of 50 square km and some others.
Measures and tasks for environmental protection have been put on top of the plan for the development of national economy and social development in the city and the city planning as well. To achieve it initiatives of the social forces are mobilized into action for the construction of environment. The scheme recently worked out for environmental protection has been enhanced through optimization to make a rational and effective allocation of environmental resources for a better advancement of the work for environmental protection in the city.
