Egypt to Attend Chinese-African Cooperation Forum Next Month

Egypt will take part in the Chinese-African cooperation forum scheduled to be held in Beijing next month, an Egyptian official said on Sunday.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa is expected to lead his country's delegation to the meetings to be convened on October 10-12 in the Chinese capital, said Ibrahim Ali Hassan, assistant foreign minister for African affairs.

The forum, which comes in response to a Chinese initiative, reflects the cordial and close relations binding African countries and China, Hassan said.

Egypt will put forward ideas on promoting African-Chinese cooperation ahead of the forum meetings out of its keenness to deal with the issues facing the African continent, Hassan said. He did not elaborate on the ideas.

The forum, the first of its kind, will be held at the level of ministers of foreign affairs and trade to discuss ways of activating political, trade and economic cooperation between African states and China, he added.
