HK Jockey Club Presents Retired Racing Horses to Dalian's Mounted Policewomen

Hong Kong Jockey Club Sunday donated 21 British-blood horses to mounted policewomen in Dalian, a port city in northeast China's Liaoning Province.

The 21 horses are all retired from racing. Yet they are still young and energetic, said Wong Chee-kong, president of the HK Jockey Club.

Li Yongjin, acting mayor of Dalian, expressed appreciation to the HK Jockey Club. He granted Wong a certificate of honorary citizen of Dalian.

The women mounted police in Dalian is the first one of its kind in China formed about 10 years ago.

Xu Wei, head of the police team, said that the racing horses from Hong Kong will receive training before taking part in patrolling or etiquette activities.

Xu said that her colleagues were excited about the coming of the British blood horses.

The HK Jockey Club has donated retired racing horses to Beijing and Shanghai before Dalian.
