China's First School of Internet Technology Opens

China's first school on Internet technology held its opening ceremony Sunday in Tianjin. The school, jointly set up by the Tianjin Institute of Light Industry and a local information engineering company, will provide undergraduate courses on Internet and E-business related technologies to students enrolled through the national college-entrance exam.

Sources with the new school said that it has enrolled some 60 freshman this year, who are majoring in computer software and E-commerce.

According to Han Weiheng, dean of the new school, China has seen a rapid growth of Internet users since the year 1994 and is now in great need of Internet related technicians.
