Romania, China Sign Culture Cooperation Agreement

The Chinese and Romanian governments signed a culture cooperation agreement for 2001-2004 in the Romanian capital of Bucharest on Friday.

The accord was signed by Chinese Vice Culture Minister Ai Qingchun and Mihai Razvan Unguleanu, state secretary of the Romanian Foreign Ministry, on behalf of their respective governments.

The signing of the new culture cooperation agreement between the two governments was an important event in their bilateral relations, said Unguleanu after the signing ceremony.

Through the concerted efforts of both sides, culture exchanges between the two countries have expanded to include new areas and have been playing a positive role in deepening the friendly cooperative relations between the two countries and two peoples, the state secretary added.

For his part, Ai said the agreement was a new one oriented to the new century, and he expressed the hope that cultural exchanges between the two countries would be further strengthened.
