Third Sino-Russian Economic Symposium Ends

The Third Sino-Russian Economic Symposium concluded in Beijing today.

During the eight-day gathering, sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), more than 80 economists and experts from China and Russia discussed economic globalization, economic reforms, Sino-Russian economic and trade cooperation and the economic prospects of the two countries in the 21st century.

Li Tieying, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and president of the CASS, said in a speech at the closing ceremony that the

symposium has served to promote the friendship between social scientists of the two countries.

He said expressed the hope that social scientists from the two countries will further academic exchanges and cooperation.

Dmitry Lvov, secretary of the Department of Economics of the Russian Academy of Science, said that the discussion is of vital importance. He added that he expects more academic cooperation between the two countries.

Prior to the closing ceremony, Li met with Russian economists.

The previous two events were held in Moscow in 1988 and 1999 respectively.
