China Supports SOOC Anti-doping Tests

Shi Tianshu, director of the Chinese Swimming Management Center, when speaking about SOOC's anti-doping tests on Chinese swimmers September 12, said that China supports all anti-doping tests by IOC (International Olympic Commission) and SOOC (Sydney Olympic Organization Committee).

Soon after the Chinese Olympic delegation arrived at Sydney yesterday, the SOOC took anti-doping tests on some Chinese Olympians. The Chinese Olympians having had anti-doping tests include two women swimmers, Chen Hua and Liu Yin.

"The Chinese Swimming Association always takes a clear-cut and firm stand against using stimulants. We support the way for blood tests set by IOC and SOOC's anti-doping work", said Shi Tianshu.

"Prompt impromptu anti-doping tests are in conformity with IOC regulations and in the category of normal tests practiced outside contest. Using stimulants is a matter involving not merely a few swimming athletes and all swimming management organizations in various countries throughout the world should unite against using stimulants" Shi further added.

Six Russian swimming athletes are also reported to have had blood tests by SOOC after their training on September 11.
