Large Numbers of Domestic Enterprises Join in Xinjiang's Development

Zhuhai Xintuo Group recently decided to place its investing focus on the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region where it will set up four enterprises respectively in the region's Turpan and Urumqi, encompassing the areas such as tourist development, building materials and real estate. So far, there have been a total of more than 50 large enterprise delegations to Xinjiang this year, which have signed contracts worth over US$ 12 billion of investment. Known for its abundant resources and unique geographical advantages, Xinjiang is regarded as a place of strategic importance for inland enterprises to march westward.

Xinjiang abounds in agricultural, livestock breeding and mineral resources. Meanwhile, it is making great efforts to establish an international commercial and trade center of the Central Asian regions, which has a great space for further development. Sources say that Guangdong Province, with leading economic strength in China, has signed contracts on more than 120 cooperative projects with Xinjiang.

The Urumqi Economic and Trade Fair held this year has attracted many delegations and groups led by local governments to come to Xinjiang for business opportunities.

Over 1,000 entrepreneurs from Hunan came to Xinjiang to seek cooperation. They brought with them more than 2,000 kinds of famous, quality, special and new products and over 100 hi-tech items to the region where the contracts they signed at the Symposium were worth over 3 billion yuan. Zhejiang Province has invested 6.3 billion yuan in Xinjiang, making it currently a province in east China to have made the most investment and contracted for the most cooperative projects in western regions. The colossal Shandong delegation, composed of 3,000 members of 540 enterprises brought with them new products, technology and items to enter into cooperation with Xinjiang. Personages from economic and enterprise circles of Shanghai and Liaoning Province recently arrived in Xinjiang. They have shown great interest in investment and cooperation in the fields of transportation, urban construction, light industry, medicine, and textile.

The recently concluded Urumqi Economic and Trade Fair has carried Chinese enterprises' westward march to a high tide. More than 2,000 work units from over 20 domestic provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and 15 prefectures and cities of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region attended the Fair. In addition, 42 overseas enterprises from countries like the Republic of Korea and Pakistan were also present there.
