China to Accelerate Developing Soymilk Industry

China State Light Industry Bureau recently advocates popularizing soymilk, a kind of beverage rich in protein, aminophenol and vitamine, to boom the development of soymilk industry.

Reportedly, the former State Light Industry Department organized importing advanced foreign technology and equipments to produce soymilk in the 80¡¯s thus formed the first high tide of soymilk development.

But the development of soymilk is below people¡¯s expectation. Although 100 enterprises dabble in this line with a production power of 450 thousand tons, the output of soymilk is less than 100 thousand tons last year, which is not in pace with the growth in beverage industry of 20%.

The insiders analyze that fluctuation of soymilk results from the following reasons: ignorance of the good commodity for insufficient advertising about soymilk¡¯s brand and nutritive value; consumers¡¯ insufficient recognition toward the dietary value of soymilk; ragged products in this line. Even soymilk powder that has relevant large sales quantity has the problem of bad dilution or too high saccharinity.

Tang tianshu, director of China Food Industry Management Center of Light Industry Bureau, deems that soymilk industry in China embraces good developing environment despite of the imperfect situation at present: abundant production in soybean; the state has lined soymilk into the products with key importance in the tenth five-year-plan; the need for soymilk will enlarge with the people¡¯s recognition of scientific diet.

China Light Industry Bureau has adopted a series of measures to push the development of soymilk. People believe that it will achieve good performances in the near future
