Vice-Premier Qian Meets Izetbegovic's Envoy

Chinese Vice-Premier Qian Qichen met Thursday with Admir Jerkovic, a special envoy of Rotating President Alija Izetbegovic of the Presidency of the Republic of Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Jerkovic arrived in Beijing on September 10. He conveyed to the Chinese side a letter written by Izetbegovic to Chinese President Jiang Zemin, in which Izetbegovic expressed his wishes to promote bilateral relations.

During the meeting, Qian expressed his gratitude for the letter from Izetbegovic to Jiang. Qian said that China and Bosnia-Herzegovina are friendly countries, and China is ready to expand its relations with Bosnia-Herzegovina.

China hopes that all ethnic groups in Bosnia-Herzegovina will continue to cooperate for stability in their country and common development, Qian said.

Jerkovic said that Bosnia-Herzegovina places great importance on its relations with China. He spoke highly of China's important role in the international arena, and appreciated China's principled stance on the issue of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
